Shakespeare wrote in Midsummer’s Night Dream “Though she be but little, she is fierce.” That quote was later modified in the movie Seabiscuit, “Though he be but little, he is fierce.” That somehow came to my mind as I’ve been traveling this week to visit the camps in week 3. Two of the camps have only two teachers; one has three and one has five. All but one is new this year, yet everywhere I go, I hear stories of amazing churches where members have taken vacation time to work in the camps, where translators have come from miles away to help in the camps, and where the children have been so excited to receive their very own Bible.
From Tatabanya (FBC McKinney, Texas):
There are 15 students at Tatabanya, ages 7 through 12. This is a church plant, yet there are lots of church members helping in the camp. The pastor’s wife also leads a quilting class in the evening for all the helpers. Discipleship takes many forms, and the devotional thoughts and discussion during the quilting time is an encouragement for both the Americans and the Hungarians..

Three women from Conroe, Texas, were enlisted about a month ago. None of them had ever been to an English/Bible camps. Two of them just got their passports weeks/days before leaving, and a team leader from another camp, helped them put together a curriculum. They are here by the grace of God (as we all are) and so glad they’ve come.

Two very experienced people—Larry O’Neill from Lubbock and Jessica Martinez from Colorado are serving together in a small, new camp of 14. Jessica is staying in Hungary for two years. She will be teaching English in the schools with Teach Beyond. If you are a certified teacher, looking for a fun, fulfilling way to spend a year or two, the Hungarian Baptists want you! JD Kennedy -- > Today I was teaching the adults. One of the women, who is not a member of this church, in forming her English "why" question asked, “Why do you love Jesus?” Great opportunity to share why I love Jesus.
Mark Fansler -- > We have seen parents at both opening and closing ceremonies [assemblies] everyday and they are joining in the songs and hearing the prayers when they are here
One child brought his Bible home the first night and opened it to the memory verse, Luke 2:11, and read it to his parents. “Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
On Tuesday, almost no one had heard that story we told of Jesus as a young child in the temple. (from Janice: Several camps have used the story of Jesus in the temple this year, and they have all commented on how the kids really relate to the story about someone their age.)
