The first day of camp is always hectic, but I
heard from two teams from Glenrose, Texas last
night. Here is some of what they had to say
about the first day.
Jeanne Ferren, serving
in Nagyvarsany writes:
Day one.... done!!! Our theme was Jesus our Leader. Our story was the
calling of the disciples. The students were
learning what it means to be “fishers of men”.
One of our students was so proud that she
learned the memory verse from Matt. 4:19,
And He said to them, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”
She stayed
behind, after the others had left, to quote it for us. It’s been a fine full
day.
In Teglas, Rodney Cavett writes:
The team in Teglas experienced a great first day. More than 120
students made up 11 classes from first grade to High School Seniors.
Every class has a teacher from who is a member of a Baptist church in the
USA, a teacher from the school in Teglas, and a Hungarian believer who
serves as an interpreter. The theme for the week is Shipwrecked…Jesus
will rescue. Some of the issues that will be discussed or
loneliness, worry, struggles, doing the wrong thing, and powerlessness.

Today I visited the Szentendre camp with four Baylor
University journalism students who will be writing an article about our
camps. My home church, FBC McKinney, had a team there. Once again, I heard
about people who had once been campers and now were church leader. One lady
had been a teacher in school that had had an IC camp. Because of the witness
in that school years ago, she is now a baptized believer, serving in
Szentendre.
Later this afternoon in the hotel, I met a Christian author and tour
guide, Kinga Tittel, who has written a fabulous and beautiful guide book
about Budapest. During our discussion I learned that she became a believer
when she was nineteen years old at an English Bible camp conducted by
International Messengers. For those of you who remember when I first started
organizing the IC camps, I went to International Messengers in Iowa to learn
how they did their camps and we used their curriculum for older students
that first year.
Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will
reap the harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6: 9.
