It’s Friday morning here, and the last day of
camp for the week 1 teams. This is the day when
most of the teams present the gospel invitation
and the story of Jesus’ resurrection. Most of
the camps will have a parent’s program today,
where the parents will get to hear from the team
and see what their children have learned. In
anticipation of today,
Melissa Ewing from McKinney, TX, serving in
Szentendre writes:
Days
3 and 4 have gone very smoothly. We have shared
two great Bible stories—Jesus choosing His
disciples and Jesus feeding the 5000. On day 3
we talked about friendship because the disciples
were Jesus’ friends.
Tomorrow is an important day as we share the story of the death and
resurrection of Jesus. Praying for the truth to
be heard by all the students.

Glen Rose TX writes:
Yesterday in Teglas
we had Bela, a Christian Singing Artist, who
sang to kids after 4:00 pm and a full day of
activities and teaching. The kids
really love him. As he was sharing
the story of the 99 sheep and the 1 lost sheep
that the shepherd went to search out, a 7 to 8
year old girl found it in her children’s Bible
and showed it to those around her.
It has been a great week in Teglas. Today we will finish with a
talent show and the awarding of certificates.
Today the Bibles study is on the powerlessness
of mankind from Acts 3, and how Peter and John
used power from Heaven to heal
the lame man.
Ann Rinker from Amarillo, serving in Szombathely
writes:
Having the
Storybook Bible has allowed one of the
interpreters to read while the kids follow in
their own copy. It’s been a great help.
We’ve encouraged them to respond in Hungarian
and I think having that choice has enabled more
participation. One little boy raised his hand to
read out of his Bible!
From Janice:
I visited five
camps this week. The camp in Edeleny is held in
a small, very rural school where the students
are from Gypsy (Roma) families. The 27 students
use free public transportation to get to the
camp. The sponsoring church is thirty miles away
and they are wanting to start a church in
Edeleny. The two women from Amarillo who are
teaching in the camp stay in a large flat [apratment]
on the third floor of the school. In addition to
the bedrooms on the third floor, many of the
classrooms have beds in them. During the school
year, the school building serves as a boarding
school for the Gypsy students, who would not be
able to attend school for a variety of reason,
if they were not cared for by the school. I
regret that we arrived too late in the afternoon
to see the students, but we brought more adult
Hungarian Bibles for the camp. These teenagers
are interested in what it means to live
according the Bible. Some expressed disbelief in
God on Monday, but they have continued to come,
ask questions, and learn. Their only Christian
witness is the Baptist church thirty miles away.
Pray for that church as they follow-up
throughout the year and make plans to plant a
church in Edeleny.
The week 2 teams (7 camps) arrived yesterday. Their
host churches will come pick them up at the
hotel on Saturday morning and they will start
their week on Sunday, worshiping together. I
marked the following verse in my Bible 26 years
ago when I first came on a mission
project to Hungary:
Always give yourself fully to the work
of the Lord, because you know that your labor in
the Lord is not in vain. I Corinthians 15:
