Kiskunhalas:
I walked into a
class in Kiskunhalas today, where a team from
San Jose, California, is serving, and there
stood a classroom of twenty-five students
singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” in English.
They then sang the Hungarian National Anthem
with their hands across their hearts. I’ve
noticed that several of our camps are using the
holidays as part of their “English” class. They
make Valentines to talk about the meaning of
God’s love. They use painted eggs to talk about
the true meaning of Easter; Independence Day to
talk about freedom in Christ, and of course
Christmas to talk about why God came to earth.
Apology:
Let me apologize for a mistake I made in
yesterday’s report. I stayed up late watching
England beat Columbia in the World Cup
competition and I wasn’t thinking straight. The
Hungarian leader of the Pecs-Somogy camp is
Joanna, not Erika. She is one of the most
dedicated Hungarians I know.
Seregelyes, Szentendre
and Debrecen:
The teams from
Amarillo. Texas, brought baseball equipment,
which makes for an exciting camp, as most
Hungarians don’t know anything about baseball,
but are eager to learn. This week we have three
teams from Amarillo/West Texas. One is in
Seregelyes, where they have been
serving for six years. One is in the camp in the
park in Szentendre. It’s called
the “Off-line Center.” And the other is in
Debrecen where the high school students
are eager to learn more English. It is one of
the few places where we work with missionaries
in the camp.”

Wood in Pecs:
Today we had 59
students at camp today with 28 workers . We had
24 in our adult conversation group.
It is also with great joy that I report that we
had 2 salvations today. The first one was a
child at the camp. She approached one of our
team members after class to ask a question and
that sparked a conversation that led to her
being saved. The second salvation happened at
our adult conversation group where a college
student who had come to practice his English
professed Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is moving in a mighty way right
now!
Another team
from Glen Rose, serving in Kormend wrote today:
Students are
energetic and interested in learning English.
Several seem interested in the Bible stories and
have many good questions. We will present
the gospel tomorrow using EvangeCubes, share our
testimonies and encourage the students to make a
commitment to follow Jesus.
The following
is a report from last week which the team shared
anonymously:
A Hungarian leader from one of the English
camps was sharing with a friend and co-worker,
who could not participant in this year’s camp.
She said, “My friend asked me about the camp and
I wrote to her that it was the best camp ever.
She asked: 'Why? Who was there with you?' I
answered, ‘the Holy Spirit!' And I truly believe
it!”
